Despite being from the same island, Nøtterøy, just outside of Tønsberg, we didn’t know each other before we started sailing together. We teamed up early 2013 and have been sailing together since.
As a team, we bring out the best in each other. To be good at sailing you need to process as much information as possible and make quick decisions based on what you have. To be able to do so, having four eyes looking around is key. Therefore, we try to have very specified roles in the boat. Helene drives the boat and makes tactical and strategical decisions. Marie trims the sails to make the boat go as fast as possible.
We like to think of ourselves as “all-round” sailors, meaning we do well in all types of conditions. However, we always perform and often win races when the wind is light.

Sailing grew fast on me and I soon started competing at a national level and it didn't take long before I won my first regatta. I enjoyed the competitive side of sailing along with the feeling of learning and mastering all types of wind and weather. By the age of 12, I had already travelled and competed at several international regattas.
The highlight from my younger days must be when I won the National Championship in the Optimist and a few years later the overall win in the Eurocup in the 29er.
The past seven years have been all about Olympic sailing in the class 49erfx. As the competitive and adventures person I am I couldn't be happier doing what I love and at the same time travel the world. For me, sailing is still the same as when I was a kid. I love being on the water, improving and facing new challenges. The good thing with sailing - you learn new things every time you hit the water. Everyday is different!
I´ve always loved being in and on the water, and I think that’s why sailing got so interesting and fun for me. The feeling of handling different conditions and make the boat go- is the best. I always loved the windy conditions with the adrenalin pumping when I was younger (still do).
Now, most of my life is based around sailing and travelling the world. With that combo: I´m happy to say that I´m living my dream to the fullest. I love to compete and switch between the training mode and the competitive mode. But also love travelling, exploring new places and get to know some of the spots well.
Outside of sailing I like skiing, typical Norwegian, but also like all kinds of water activities. If we have a day off you would most likely find us along the water or out exploring. Going for hikes or to beaches. With over 200 days of travelling, there´s not much time at home. But when being at home I make sure to spend as much time with friends and family, going on adventures or eating good food with them.
